While there are many initiatives in the region to attract and retain jobs in the general areas of IT, advanced energy, bio-medicine, and logistics, there is little being done on a large scale to create and attract “green businesses” and accelerate the transition of existing businesses to the green economy – Dublin is intent on contributing to this effort. In September 2009, Dublin City Council passed Resolution 43-09 authorizing the City Manager to establish a “Green Incubator” within the Dublin Entrepreneurial Center. The Green Integrator celebrated its’ grand opening in April, 2010 with 11 green tenants.
The purpose of the Green Integrator is to nurture a collaborative environment intended to promote the development of new green companies both physically and not physically located in the DEC/Green Integrator to access services, networks, training, capital and other necessary resources to assist with getting new ideas to market, new company formation and job creation, and to develop and/or bring new green technologies for integration into and promotion to the market place. Participation in the Green Integrator will be team in spirit while respecting the individuality and proprietary requirements of each company.
