DEC Green Integrator: 2010 TechColumbus Innovation Award Semi-finalist

~ by Lori Crock, Written Impact

The idea for the Green Integrator was bounced around at the DEC in the summer of 2009. A group of DEC consultants and Dublin city staff formed a committee to explore how to attract businesses focused on green solutions to the DEC. Dana McDaniel, Deputy City Manager and Economic Development Director for the City of Dublin, was in full support and proposed it to Dublin City Council who approved the concept.

In December, 2009, the DEC consultants began to solicit green businesses and the first business moved in January, 2010, and included: GreenPages business directory, Resource 100, Metro CD Engineering and Evolved Energy Management Solutions.

Currently, 12 tenants do business through the Green Integrator including all original tenants. Four companies have expanded with more staff and offices and others have added staff to their current office arrangement.

This is the only Green-business focused space in central Ohio. It is reviewed often by other organizations for duplication around the state.

The advantage of co-locating Green businesses is the companies can:

  • Exchange ideas
  • Collaborate and bid on projects together
  • Work with the City of Dublin
  • Meet regularly to talk about how to encourage even more collaboration.

Green Integrator businesses include:

Tipping Point Renewable Energy – Solar Solutions (LEED APs)
Evolved Energy Management Solutions – Lighting and Control Systems  (LEED APs)
Spark Productions – Solar Panel Rack Systems  (LEED APs)
Teynor Development – Alternative Energy Solutions
