Collaborator Spotlight: When Green, IT and Start Ups Come Together, It’s Possitivity

Social Boomerang Digital Communication Specialist

Part of what makes the Dublin Entrepreneurial Center a community dedicated to economic growth and development in Central Ohio are the businesses, organizations and — most importantly people. Collaborators generously donate their time, expertise, and services which is how we continue to offer high quality programming, events, and services at no cost.

If you have ever visited the DEC, you’ve seen the green recycling containers placed strategically throughout the building. Also, many businesses in the building are green start ups and we are proud to have nearly an entire floor of green tech businesses — which we call: the Green Integrator.

So, when tenants inquired about where they could recycle their old computer and technology equipment, we searched for a solution. Fortunately Possitivity had an answer.

For over 30 years, Possitivity has helped their business partners by offering competitive services that exceed industry standards. E-waste recycling and disposal, is their newest service and Possitivity guarantees a 100% global no-landfill policy and returns all recycled materials to the manufacturing stream.

In April 2010, when Possitivity teamed up with the DEC to be a collaborator, Possitivity accepted a big role. First, they agreed to dispose of e-waste in a, secure and environmentally responsible way for anyone leaving computers, cell phones, servers, LED monitors, and other electronic waste in the blue recycling containers. This means, next time you come to the DEC for a meeting, event or casual co-working, bring that old cell phone or printer that’s been sitting around and recycle it.

About the collaboration, Jesse Roberts, E-Waste Manager revealed, “we were excited about the opportunity to be more active and involved in the green and start up communities, as well as let people know that we recycle and resale items at a reasonable price.”

Possitivity then took their relationship one step further, by sponsoring a raffle giving away a recycled technology item each month. About this Jesse notes, “We have partnerships with companies that often discard technology items that may no longer serve their corporate needs, but are often well suited for individuals and start up companies.”

The E-waste manger continues, “Because the DEC is a place where IT, green and the start up communities come together, we were very excited about the opportunity to add to it in this way.”

Jesse says a highlight of Possitivity’s role as a collaboration has been “the new partnership and networking opportunities. We’ve been able to build relationships and explore partnerships with companies at the DEC.”

He continues,  “we’ve also been able to make connections between some of our partner companies and those at the DEC,” and says Jesse, “adding to the synergy has been darn fun!”
